Biography

ARCO Simona holds a Masters (appl.) of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Arts, Belgrade. As a skilled pianist with over 35 years of experience in live concert performance, Arco has performed over 150 concerts, including numerous solo performances with symphony orchestras. She is the recipient of national and international awards and accolades, including Rachmaninoff competition Laureate, Belgrade, Certificate of merit from Faculty of Music, University of Arts, Belgrade,  3rd place on International Competition Fryderyk Chopin, Rome, Italy.

Arco is a member of the EPTA – European Piano Teachers Association, UMUS – Association of Music Artists of Serbia, SOKOJ – Organization of music authors of Serbia. With 30 years of teaching experience in formal music education ranging from kindergarten to university levels.  As a music instructor, she has been a member of jury on competitions for students, conducted dozens of workshops and master classes, both independently and in collaboration with esteemed local and foreign musicians. Arco has been invited to perform in various radio and television broadcasts, with her performance receiving coverage in prominent new publications.

Her artistic journey as composer  began with compositions for piano continuously growing through composing for various solo instruments as well as for chamber ensembles and orchestras. Simona’s music is shaped by a broad education and essential understanding of musical creativity from the Renaissance through Baroque and Romanticism to jazz and rock culture of the 20th century. Her understanding of music as a gift of the soul inspires Arco’s unique style, overflowing with evocative, primordial melodies resulting in timeless compositions. She weaves the musical patterns of earlier epochs through the prism of the present moment, producing simple yet enchanting melodies that evoke a soothing feeling of familiarity

Her artistic project Sparks for wind and string instruments has been recognized as significant and supported by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, SOKOJ and recommended by The Association of Music and Ballet Schools of Serbia – ZMBŠS as valuable an suitable music scores for students.  Arco’s music has already found it’s place on concert podiums and has been included in repertoire both for students of music and professional musicians.
